ORCHARD COTTAGE
The design proposal sought to create an extension and annexe to the rear of the property, through removal of an existing substandard extension and outbuilding. The new extension is designed to be proportionate in size to the existing building.
The style aims to replicate the brick and timber cladding often associated with barn conversions of the surrounding area, with a contemporary twist. Emphasis is put on maximising natural light, with minimal impact on neighbouring properties. The proposal takes influence from the existing gable width of the building, to ensure that the extension remains in proportion with the existing house.
The building elements have also been chosen with sustainability in mind. The construction techniques and materials used, ensure that the building will perform to modern building regulation standards.
