CAREERS
At Poole Phillips Associates we are dedicated to training our staff thoroughly and have both Part I and Part II architects' on our team. We understand the importance of up to date training and innovation within the field, participating actively in continuing professional development programmes. We partake in CPD Mondays, which our clients are more than welcome to attend with prior arrangement.
The importance of being involved with studying architects is not a new concept to us; we have been employing Part I and Part II architects since the company was founded, helping to develop their skills whilst fostering a welcoming environment in which to achieve.
We also employ an apprentice within our administration team whilst he works towards gaining an AAT Level 4.

We are very accommodating of work experience students and welcome enquiries regarding this. Eilidh, who undertook work experience with us last summer says:

I'd like to say another big thank you for the work experience that I did with you over the summer in 2015. The month was very helpful, I learnt so many valuable things. It was one of the best decisions I have made, and it really helped inform my decision. The support and insight you gave me, as well as the reference you wrote, were so helpful and I am thankful that I got the experience.

"Since graduating my Part I I have worked at Poole Phillips Associates, and remained here throughout both my part II and part III courses respectively. The practice has actively supported me through all parts of my architectural education, and sought opportunities to provide relevant experience and skills. This knowledge provided a significant advantage through both the part II & III courses, and made the transition from university education to working in practice manageable and straightforward.
Through the entirety of my time with PPA, I have had the opportunity to work on a broad range of projects, with increasing responsibilities. This background has ensured I gain well rounded and relevant experience in a broad range of architectural fields, providing me with a robust yet diverse portfolio of projects at an early stage in my career.
The practice has always looked to utilise architectural assistant staff as a core part of the team, and promotes the individual development of all architectural employees through in-house CPD and training, which many students, myself included, have found to be advantageous at the next level of their studies."

"Working for Poole Phillips Associates this past year has been an invaluable and unforgettable experience for me! I graduated in 2015 from the University of Nottingham and decided to join PPA due to the small practice size and range of projects specialising in conservation, restoration, residential and commercial.

Due to the size of the practice, I was given a lot of responsibility, which included taking several projects from scheme design all the way through to construction on site throughout the year. The practice supported me throughout, and I believe I will now be going into my Part II course with a much-improved knowledge in design, practice and management and construction, and I am really thankful for the opportunities they have given me.

The team includes a variety of students currently progressing through their architectural education as well as qualified architects, this mix is very advantageous and working side by side with a senior architect has really helped with my personal development.
I am now leaving Poole Phillips Associates to carry on my Part II studies at the University of Westminster, but I’m sure I will be back every holiday to see how things are progressing."
