Merstow Green Funeral Home was established in 2007, it is an independently run family firm, run by the Tomlins family who have been associated with funeral directing for many years. However, as the business has grown over the years it became apparent that existing spatial arrangement was not adequate.
The proposal, therefore includes the construction of a two-storey rear extension, of a size appropriate to the scale of the property, together with the re-roofing of the larger single storey extension (housing the mortuary) with a more unobtrusive flat roof.
A small additional building has also be constructed on the boundary of the public car park. This provides a discrete space for some of the more sensitive elements of the business.
Internally, within the original portion of the property, the spatial layout has been reordered such that it provides more usable space for preparation and client occupation. The new layout also provides more efficient office space upstairs.
