Badgers Retreat was constructed in response to the clients need for a “Lifetime Home”. The occupants are both elderly with a range of health issues. The design ensures that they will be able to live as independently and comfortably as possible.

The principal brief sought to provide an affordable home with low running costs and maintenance requirements, designed to lifetime home standards, enabling all aspects of independent living, whilst capable of accommodating visiting grandchildren and other relatives.

This modest home is an exemplar project of how it is possible to make responsible ‘green’ choices without ‘busting the bank’. All the features noted above were costed and deemed to offer significant benefits in reducing, not only day to day running costs, but also the overall carbon footprint of the project and the occupants within the building.
