WALNUT COTTAGE

Walnut Cottage is a new build construction, utilising some contemporary design features whilst maintaining a local vernacular style. However, the building contains some non-conventional components which enhance the architectural quality.

 

The property contains a basement with access on to a small patio garden and steps which lead up to the main garden. This feature essentially creates a whole additional floor which is not visible from the road, and as such does not impede on the scale of the property when compared to the surrounding neighbours.

 

A Juliet balcony to the back of the home provides an opportunity for allowing air into the first-floor level. This makes for excellent living conditions and is an aspirational design feature.

 

The material pallet remains conservative within the context of the village. However, rendered elements, combined with a lead dormer and flashing, gives the building a contemporary feel.
